so i have really slacked off lately, and only just started scanning some more film today from my trip, STILL have a few rolls to be developed…
but on a positive note, i have started developing my own C-41, using a Jobo CPE2 and Jobo press kit. it was a lot easier than i first thought.
i am actually quite amazed at how sharp these photos are. these Mamiya lenses, 50mm f4 C and 90mm f3.8 are actually amazing.
photo time!

i saw someones photo of cliffs and rock formations at Inverloch, and wondered why i hadnt been there before, since big cliffs and rocks are very much my thing.
i got pretty excited by what i saw, shot a bunch of photos, but had a few issues with development.
i nearly always have issues when loading 4×5 sheets onto my MOD54 holder, i think i need a bigger changing bag, as when loading six sheets there is always 1 or 2 sheets stuck together.
however not all was lost, and only the corners were affected. Shanghai film is also quite soft and scratches easily.

some parts have started to be demolished, and others are being rebuilt, not sure as what though…
this is my first roll of film souped in D-76. decent results, so im happy.

heres a bunch of random shots taken over a few months.
im generally way too selective with my photos, and a roll of 36 can take a while for me to finish!

i love detail in a photo, and these 2 following photos are full of it.
this is why i like b&w, i feel sometimes details can get lost in a colour photograph, colour can be a distraction.

while i was there the other day, i also shot a roll of Agfa Scala 200 in my Hasselblad, was a good chance to try my new 50mm T* lens out.
using 200iso film and having a max aperture of f/4 was a bit tough in such a dark place, especially without a tripod… rookie mistake!
i am blown away with this film though, already up there with my favorites! after shooting it, when i got home i started to look at development times, when i realised that Scala is a POSITIVE B&W!
shit!
but the more i looked, i found people talking about developing it as a Negative. well i had nothing to lose! i mixed up some Agfa Rodinal 1:100 and stand developed for an hour, and im quite happy with the results! except for a few blurry shots and half the roll have a dirty big scratch down the negative, which i think i found the reason, and have now hopefully fixed.

sometime ago while searching the internet for new places to check out, i came across someones Flickr page that showed a few local-ish old/abandoned buildings. so the other day i decided to go looking for the old Darnum Milk Factory. i had a vague idea where it was, and in the end wasn’t too hard to find.

last week we had some nice weather. so i headed off to the beach to enjoy the sun, not to swim, but to photograph, of course!
i still have a few sheets of film to develop, 4 sheets of 4×5 Velvia 50, and one more b&w Tmax. i’ll get around to it eventually…
but for now, here’s a few shots.

I couldn't surrender, try as they might, to an expectation, a label, or a routine. Constantly I'd struggle, trying to fit in a preconceived mold but I'd only end up hurting myself in the process, I was either too big, too small, or the wrong 'shape' of thinking!
