i saw someones photo of cliffs and rock formations at Inverloch, and wondered why i hadnt been there before, since big cliffs and rocks are very much my thing.
i got pretty excited by what i saw, shot a bunch of photos, but had a few issues with development.
i nearly always have issues when loading 4×5 sheets onto my MOD54 holder, i think i need a bigger changing bag, as when loading six sheets there is always 1 or 2 sheets stuck together.
however not all was lost, and only the corners were affected. Shanghai film is also quite soft and scratches easily.

following on from my previous post Polaroids, here are some shots i took on the Crown Graphic using Velvia 50.
i also took some photos on some expired Kodak Ektachrome 100 Plus, but the film came back pretty much clear…

im a bit behind on my scanning, and have a few rolls to go through and post about, but just a bit lazy really..
but here’s some Polaroids that i took yesterday on my recently acquired polaroid back for my 4×5.

theres a few odd colour shifts, and i think thats due to the film be a few years old, and i froze it once, before i was told that is a no-no..
still happy though, just hope the films i shot work out well too!

last week we had some nice weather. so i headed off to the beach to enjoy the sun, not to swim, but to photograph, of course!
i still have a few sheets of film to develop, 4 sheets of 4×5 Velvia 50, and one more b&w Tmax. i’ll get around to it eventually…
but for now, here’s a few shots.

i have been a bit sick lately, and working long shifts, so today i finally got a chance to catch up on some developing and scanning, so keep a lookout for more updates.
Last weekend was Large Format Day at Collingwood Gallery.
i love using my Crown Graphic, and i was keen on seeing a few other large format cameras in use, as they’re a bit or a rare site these days.
here’s a few photos i took.

being able you see a scene, visualize the photo, then make it a reality is a good feeling, and when i scanned this negative, i was quite excited to see it came out as i had envisaged.
on the weekend, after sitting around for a few hours, bored and whinging about being cold, i decided to go for a drive. since im currently not working, im not sure why i only ever seem to go out on weekends.
anyways, a few months ago i went to Licola for a drive, and really enjoyed the landscapes, nice vibrant green grass, rolling hills.. i had been wanting to return, but new adventures always take precedence to old haunts.
as i was driving along the windy, mountain roads, i caught a glimpse of the rocks protruding from the face of the mountain, with a clear blue sky as a background and to top it all off, a half moon was sitting just above.
my thoughts soon shifted to ‘where can i park!’, the road was quite narrow, with no shoulder, so i kept driving, with my attention divided between watching where i was going and staring at the mountain.
soon enough i found a spot to pull over, and i parked the car, grabbed my cameras and was on a mission to find a spot to set up.
about a hundred or so meters up the road i found a good view, but i had to head about 10 meters down an embankment, and this is where i got the following photo.
this photo was taken with my Crown Graphic 4×5, Schneider 150mm lens and Shanghai GP3 100 film, with a red filter.
i quite like the combination of the Shanghai film and R09 developer. both are quite cheap, so i should stock up!

Hidden within the rolling green hills of the Strzelecki Ranges, the meandering Agnes River cascades over rocks into a deep picturesque gorge.
At 59 metres, Agnes Falls are the highest single span falls in Victoria.
yesterday i went for a drive to Agnes Falls. i saw this place on a map quite a while ago, and had wanted to go since.
it was sunny when i got to the ‘scenic lookout’, but no sooner had i set up my camera, it began raining quite heavily.
i took another light reading, 5sec @ f/32 and took 2 shots.
the camera got very wet, as did i.

a few weekends ago i went out with the 4×5 and shot a few sheets.
im struggling a bit remembering to set aperture and close lens after focusing, but with a bit more practice, and the note i now have on top of the camera, it shouldn’t happen anymore….
i just bought a Schneider 150mm f/5.6 Symmar Convertible, so im keen to give it a go soon.

I couldn't surrender, try as they might, to an expectation, a label, or a routine. Constantly I'd struggle, trying to fit in a preconceived mold but I'd only end up hurting myself in the process, I was either too big, too small, or the wrong 'shape' of thinking!
