roadtrip!

A few weeks ago i went on a solo roadtrip.
i packed a few cameras, a bag of clothes, sleeping bag and set off.
first stop was the Great Ocean Road. It has been a drive i have wanted to do for a long time, so it was good to finally get it done!
this is only a few photos, im still working my way through getting all my film developed, so more to come!

day one- Traralgon to Lorne. ;Erskine Falls
day two- Lorne to Port Campbell. ;Cape Otway,Triplet Falls
day three- Port Campbell to Adelaide.
day four- Adelaide to Coober Pedy.
day five- Coober Pedy to Uluru.
day six- Uluru to Kings Canyon. ;Olgas
day seven- Kings Canyon to Coober Pedy. ;The Breakaways; Dingo Fence.
day eight- Coober Pedy to Mildura.
day nine- Mildura to Melbourne.
day ten- Melbourne.
day eleven- Melbourne to Traralgon.

in total, i drove over 6200kms!

the snow.

last weekend i went for a drive to the snow, and did a bit of trekking.
i have also been using a new developer, Rodinal R09, and i must say i like it! the tones, contrast, sharpness, when combined with TMax 400 films are all excellent.

these 2 shots were taken with a Mamiya RB67, 90mm lens and Kodak Tmax 400.

Velvia 50!

i bought some Velvia 50 in 120 format a little while ago. im not really big on shooting colour normally, but i thought id give the velvia a go based on the amazingly vibrant colours i saw and heard about, i was not disappointed! i got my positives [negatives?] back today from the lab in Melbourne, and wow. im in love!
now i just need to work out how im going to afford to buy shitloads of slide films for 4×5..

Wilsons Prom

a few weeks ago i went for a drive with a friend to Wilsons Prom to shoot some photos and to have a look around.
the weather wasn’t the greatest, especially since i also used some Fuji Velvia 50 film, i was hoping for some sunshine and blue skies.
overall it was a good day, got a heap of good photo’s i’m happy with. hopefully i can get down there again soon with my newest addition to my camera collection, a Crown Graphic 4×5.

home development part 2.

i have been shooting a lot of medium format lately, more than 35mm, and i love it.
i smashed through 2 rolls of Tri-X in about a week, had a go at developing it myself.
wasnt too sure how i’d go loading the 120, considering how much i have been struggling with the 35mm, but after a few youtube videos, i was ready to go, and i somehow managed to have no issues each time.
im getting mixed messages about pre-soaking 120, some say yes, some no. so i didnt bother, and didnt see any adverse affects. what are peoples thoughts?
i reused the developer for the second roll, it was quite reddish after the first roll, and added approx 10% to the developing time.
both rolls were a success! really happy.
i also bought a new scanner. Epson Photo V600, bought it as a refurbed unit from the Epson website, works well! only cost about $250 too!

Walhalla Cemetery and Mushroom Rock B&W

Mamiya RB67 and Ilford XP2
went for a drive up into the hills the other day, visited the Walhalla Cemetery and then went across to Mushroom Rocks near Mt Erica.
it was incredibly misty up there which was amazing.
